Practice Consultant

The Nursing Consultant for  Practice and  Communication  is available for consultation on a wide variety of issues, such as the interpretation of Association documents ethical behaviours and standards, issues of safety and appropriate action, conflict resolution, and the management of procedural and practice issues.

This confidential service is offered to support ARNPEI nurses and to encourage safe, ethical, and competent practice.

The practice consultant  is  available for consultation on professional practice issues.

This service is designed to enhance and promote safe, ethical and competent practice. You might consult with us about:

  • information about the services and the mandate of the Association
  • advice and guidance to:
  1. address identified problems
  2. identify/clarify issues to determine the problem
  3. identify how client care could be affected
  4. document and communicate concerns to appropriate persons
  5. negotiate resolution and implement changes in practice to meet standards
  • resources
  • support and encouragement
  • referral

You can discuss your issue over the phone or request a face-to-face meeting with a practice consultant. The advisor will help you clarify your issue or concern and how best to address it, including relevant resources that you could use in resolving your issue. If your issue is not within the mandate of t ARNPEIwe will refer you to other resources.

Information shared between the practice advisor and the caller may be shared with other ARNPEI staff to ensure accurate and comprehensive advice. The fact that you have been in touch with the ARNPEIor the content of the call will not be shared with others outside the team. However, ARNPEI practice consultants have the same responsibility and accountability as all RNs. If a practice consultant  were to become aware of professional misconduct or incompetence there would be an obligation to follow up and report.

Once you have contacted ARNPEI  the  Practice Consultant/designate will contact you within two business days or another staff member will provide information  as available.
