RN Assisting With Flu Vaccine Clinics

Over the past years ARNPEI has received enquiries from Registered Nurses (RN) about “what they should know about giving flu vaccines outside their regular workplace.”  For example a Registered Nurse may state, “I have been approached by a local physician/pharmacist/educational institution etc. to assist and to provide flu vaccines clinics in the office/organization. What do I need to consider ensuring that I am meeting my Standards for Nursing Practice as a registered nurse? Am I able to provide vaccines to the office staff as well as the clients?”

This sounds like an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative way to provide care to your community.  Before you start there are several things to consider.
