Dr. Vera Dewar appointed to the Order of Canada
DR. Vera Dewar - Member of The Order of Canada
Dr. Vera Dewar of Stratford Prince Edward Island, was appointed on May 26, 2011, as Member of the Order of Canada for her contributions in the advancement of nursing education in Prince Edward Island.
The Order of Canada was established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and is the centrepiece of Canada’s honours system and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country. The Order of Canada’s motto is DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (They desire a better country).
Dr. Dewar will be accepting her appointment at a ceremony in Ottawa on September 16, 2011.
A luncheon to honor Dr. Vera Dewar is planned during the ARNPEI Fall Conference on November 10, 2011.
