The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) has been granted 30 medals to distribute to recognize outstanding nurses.

Please note the following information:

• This is the link to the information and website regarding this award program  http://www.gg.ca/document.aspx?id=14019&lan=eng
• Attached you will  find the allocation of medals to each jurisdiction.  As mentioned, the allocation is based on membership and to ensure that each jurisdiction gets at least one medal for the purposes of nomination
• In addition to the criteria outlined in the website information,  we would like jurisdictions to consider two other criteria, namely:
1. That the nominee has not previously received an award of merit/leadership from their jurisdiction/CNA or ICN
2. That preference be given to recognizing  outstanding emerging/mid career nurses
• Please note that jurisdictions are free to add other criteria

Timelines
• The jurisdictions need to identify their nominee(s) at the November Board meeting
• CNA will submit the full list to the GG office to ensure that the nominees have not been nominated through another process
• CNA will distribute the medals starting in December and finishing in February
